No More Camping Out For Texas Oilfield Workers

Houston, TX (PRWEB) March 01, 2012

GroundFORCE Building Systems has announced that it plans to use its one-of-a-kind off-site construction technology to build much-needed permanent residential housing and commercial buildings in the 24 counties where Eagle Ford oilfields are located.

Housing shortages in the mostly rural areas around the Eagle Ford project have led to sharp spikes in rental costs and the proliferation of man camps, trailers and other portable housing unsuitable for family living.

Oilfield workers want to have their families with them, so there is a high demand for quality housing, said Kenneth Neatherlin, GroundFORCE President & CEO.

The companys technology provides an innovative and structurally sound solution to building homes and other structures in remote locations. Often used in schools and medical centers, GroundFORCE buildings are constructed off-site and built to national and state codes. They feature a structurally suspended concrete floor designed to be set in shifting soils, which is important in Texas, where shifting soils often lead to costly foundation repairs. Because the GroundFORCE flooring system is not affected by shifting soils, it virtually eliminates the foundation damage caused with traditional flooring foundation systems.

The buildings have an expected life span of more than 50 years, and they are environmentally friendly and can be built to LEED standards.

Its truly a revolutionary process and the perfect solution for rural areas, where you may have to drive two or more hours to buy building supplies, Neatherlin said. With GroundFORCE, construction time is reduced, but the buildings are of the highest quality. Were the only company offering this type of product.

A major factor in the success of this off-site construction technology is the companys patented air-ride delivery method. The buildings travel only a few inches above the road, which allows for 9-10 foot ceiling heights, since they will easily clear underpasses and overpasses. Modular buildings, which travel on a truck bed, cannot reach these ceiling heights.

The buildings are also adaptable – offering flex-space, multi-purpose use, and even a change in location as demand changes. Our buildings can be a hospital one day and a hotel the next; we can add onto them quickly; and they can be moved to different locations, Neatherlin said.

Neatherlin notes that the adaptability of this system is well-suited to the unpredictability of the oilfield industry, which experiences high and low swings in demand. The use, size and location of these buildings can change with the industrys ups and downs, he said.

GroundFORCE is currently building Head Start schools in Zapata and Rio Grande City and 1400-square-foot homes for border patrol and DPS officers in Hebbronville who are now driving 60 miles each way to their homes in Laredo. The company recently completed a 9,400 square-foot clinic for the St. Joseph Healthcare System in Brenham in less than 90 days. The building included full stucco over real stone on the GroundFORCE structurally suspended concrete flooring system.

Fujifilm Announces a More Powerful Mirrorless Camera with X-mount Lenses

NYC, NY (PRWEB) January 11, 2012

B&H Photo has announced that it will be carrying the New Fuji XPro1 digital camera, a blacked-out model with a retro look and feel. The camera features a new 16MP APS-C format X-Trans CMOS imaging sensor (23.6 x 15.6mm), which is driven by a Fujifilm EXR Pro image processor that enables still capture in the form of JPEG, RAW (RAF format), or JPEG+RAW, one at a time or in bursts of up to six frames per second in Continuous Drive mode.

X-Trans CMOS sensor’s color filter array.

By enhancing aperiodicity (randomness) in the array arrangement, the color filter minimizes generation of both moire and false colors, eliminating the necessity for an optical low-pass filter in the lens and enabling the X-Trans CMOS sensor to take full advantage of the attached lens. The EXR Processor Pro is supported by an integrated co-processor for higher speed and higher precision image processing performance.

The Fuji X Pro1 can also capture 1080p full-HD video at 24 fps with stereo sound. The shutter range on the X-Pro1 goes from 30 seconds to 1/4000-second with a top flash sync speed of 1/180-second. Shutter speeds and apertures can be set in 1/3- stop increments. The ISO ranged from 200 to 6400, which is expandable to an ISO equivalent of 100, 12800, and 25600 when the going gets particularly tough.

Like the original X100, the Fujifilm X-Pro1 offers two options for composing and reviewing imagery. The first, in the case of the X-Pro1, is a 3.0 inch, fixed position LCD that sports an impressively high 1,230,000 dots of resolving power. The second is a hybrid viewfinder that can be transformed from optical to EVF with the flip of a switch. The X-Pro 1s LCD and hybrid finder both offer 100% of the total image field for accurate framing in both still and video mode.

When set to its optical position, the X-Pro1s viewfinder is very bright and clear, similar to a rangefinder. When switched to EVF mode, exposure data can be displayed along the edges of the frame and you can also view exposure and white balance adjustments you might make in real time.

In terms of construction, the top and base plate of the Fujifilm X-Pro1 are made from die-cast aluminum alloy and feature elegant design touches that include precision engraving on the top plate and hand-enameled lettering on the cameras dedicated XF-series lens system. The cameras shutter speed and exposure compensation dials are milled from solid metal and feature lock mechanisms that prevent you from inadvertently changing settings. Even the lens hoods are machined from aluminum and not less expensive polymer materials. To round things out, finely textured faux-leather materials wrap around the front and side panels of the camera body.

Tradition-minded photographers will appreciate the selection of film-emulation modes featured on the Fujifilm X-Pro1. Included among these film emulations are two Negative Film modes, Velvia for more saturated, vivid colors, Astia for soft skin tones, and Provia for natural color renditions. Theres also an Enhance Monochrome mode that can emulate the look of red, yellow, and green filters when shooting black-and-white film mode through these aforementioned filters.

Fujifilm XF-mount Lenses

To complement the new camera Fujifilm X-Pro1, Fujifilm is introducing three fast-aperture Fujifilm XF-mount lenses, each of which, like the X-Pro1 camera body, is machined aluminum alloy. For wide-angle shooting, Fujifilm has an 18mm f/2.0 XF R (27mm equivalent), which contains eight elements in seven groups including two aspheric lenses, and focuses down to 7″ (18cm); a 35mm f/1.4 XF R normal lens (53mm equivalent), which contains eight elements in six groups including one aspheric lens, and focuses down to 11″ (28cm); and a 60mm f/2.4 XF macro lens that contains ten elements in eight groups including one aspheric lens and an ED element, which focuses down to 10.5″ (26.7cm) for a maximum magnification ratio of 0.5x.

StandUpPouches.net Introduces the Side Gusset Pouch that Uses 12% Less Material and Holds 40% More

Cleveland, Ohio (PRWEB) November 16, 2011

StandUpPouches.net, a Cleveland, Ohio based company is proud to announce the side gusset stand up bag. Similar to a box or a carton, this stand bag is made with a completely flat bottom yet the side gussets allow the pouch to hold 40% more while using 12% less material, also known as film. Even better, this style of stand up pouch enables a fully-functioning zip lock closure and has five faces, or areas, on which to apply high-end Rotogravure printing, text, and graphics.

Historically, stand up pouches, also known as stand bags or stand up pouch bags, have been constructed with a bottom gusset made from a special sealing technique that formed the area for the pouch to stand on a store shelf. However, by design, the wide face and back of the pouch along with a required ziplock closure restricted how big (or small) a pouch could be made.

This design was driven by the ability to have a ziplock closure on a pouch that mimics a box or a carton, said StandUpPouches.net President and CEO David Marinac. Companies love the cube style and stability of a folding carton, yet they provide little if any barrier protection to keep the contents fresh. In fact, they need an inner liner or bag to contain and provide some protection to the product. Here, they get the best of all worlds, a pouch with incredible barrier properties, a ziplock closure for easy access, and a flat, stable bottom so the pouch can stand erect on a shelf. They are also land fill friendly, recyclable, and allow companies to eliminate the inner liner, which saves them money. Side gusset stand up pouches are perfect for cereal, granola, rice, coffee, tea, chia, flour, flax, protein powder and more.
